Inspiring Riddley Walker
Posted on December 24, 2007 by glyn

This is a Judy puppet belonging to the man whose articles in the New Yorker magazine started Russell Hoban on the road to writing Riddley Walker. It was intellectual polymath Edmund Wilson who mused about English puppeteers in these articles, and in the online guide to the Yale Collection of American Literature you can find Wilsonís papers and pictures of his own Punch, Judy and a number of other figures. They are in the Room 26 Cabinet of Curiosities.
